Adult Sickle Cell Research Gala

On May 31, 2013

Most people don’t know this outside of my personal circle, but Sickle Cell is a disease that’s near and dear to my heart for many reasons.  One of which is my sister, Felecia Jordan, passed away July 10, 2008 due to complications from her lifelong battle with Sickle Cell at the age of 42.  After some much needed time and healing, I’m finally able to start planning and designing my first annual Sickle Cell Charity Gala!

September is National Sickle Cell Awareness month, so the event will take place in September 2014, likely at the Blackhawk Country Club in Danville, CA.  They’ve rolled out the red carpet – I couldn’t be more thrilled.

I’ve decided to blog my way through the planning of this particular event.  Countless people loved my sister and miss her dearly, as do I.  I think being a part of this process will be fun for many of you and allow me to share all that I might be experiencing along the way.  Of course, I’ll keep everyone updated as to the date once it’s chosen {either September 13, 20 or 27} and how you can buy tickets or donate to adult SC research.  Proceeds from the event will go to the Sickle Cell Disease Foundation of California.

Join me on Facebook or Twitter to follow my journey!
