First Dance Songs: 2011 Edition

During a meeting with one of my favorite couples this week {yes, I say that about all of my clients}, I asked what song they’d chosen for their First Dance.  Their response was a first for me…silence!  I was met with two completely blank stares.  Until that very second, I truly thought everyone either had “a song” or knew what their First Dance song would be as their wedding date approached.  Heck, I’m not even planning to get married and I have my First Dance song chosen…with a backup.

I realized that, to couples, not having a song doesn’t mean simply choosing a song they know; it means how are we going to determine which song to choose out of all the love songs in existence?!  In order to narrow the field for you brides {and grooms} to be, I asked married people on Facebook and Twitter to pay it forward and share the songs they chose for the ever so special First Dance!  Here are the top 10 selections I received:

  • Spend My Life With You – Eric Benet and Tamia
  • Endless Love – Lionel Richie and Diana Ross
  • You’re Still the One – Shania Twain
  • Here and Now – Luther Vandross
  • Ribbon in the Sky – Stevie Wonder
  • If This World Were Mine – Luther Vandross and Cheryl Lynn
  • As – Stevie Wonder
  • Breathe – Faith Hill
  • On the Wings of Love – Jeffrey Osborne
  • Can’t Live Without You – Charlie Wilson
