Top 5 Wedding Trends of 2012: Coffee on the Go

On January 6, 2012

Sometimes trends aren’t new, but they are a way to liven up something that should be dead and buried.  I believe that the standard coffee station is one of those concepts.  There are generally two ways that coffee is offered to guests at a wedding reception.  One involves servers walking around each table asking “would you like coffee”…”would YOU like coffee”…”how’s about coffee”.  Not only is it ineffective, but by the time coffee is served, at least half of your guests (if you’ve done things right) are on the dance floor living it up.  The other way looks a little something like this:

It’s not that this traditional set up doesn’t do the trick, but it’s boring.  Never waste an opportunity at your wedding to make a statement.  That’s why I think mobile coffee carts and innovative cofffee stations are the perfect way to either A) rev up your guests for the night ahead (if it’s cold enough outside) or B) send them on their way at the end of the night with something soothing and warm as the cherry on top of an event to remember.

I’m not a coffee drinker, but I would definitely be intrigued by a fun, hot chocolate or espresso station as pictured above.

Having a winter wedding?  A mobile coffee cart greeting guests as they arrive at the venue would be a warm welcome; pun intended.  The idea is to get creative and give what’s normally a drab “station” some flair!

Want to take things up a notch?  Give your guests coffee to go as they depart your reception.  Customize your sleeve (or cozy) with your names and wedding date and place a sweet treat on a stick inside!
